Farmer Shot Dead While Sleeping Outside His House in Bihar

Patna: A tragic incident unfolded in Bihar’s Samastipur district as a farmer, identified as Harishchandra Rai (50), was shot dead while he was sleeping outside his house. The shocking incident has left the local community in shock and mourning.

According to the victim’s brother, Dinesh Rai, Harishchandra had finished his dinner on Thursday night and retired to sleep just outside his house. The next morning, when a family member went to serve him tea, they discovered Harishchandra lying in a pool of blood, with gunshot wounds to his head.

Upon receiving the report of the murder, the authorities swiftly responded by dispatching a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team to the crime scene. The investigation revealed that Harishchandra Rai had sustained two gunshot injuries, indicating a brutal and targeted attack while he was in a vulnerable state of sleep. Two spent cartridges were recovered from the area, further evidence of the heinous crime.

Speaking on the matter, Pinki Prasad, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mufassil police station, stated, “It appears that the victim, who was a prominent figure in the local farming community, was targeted and killed in a deliberate act of violence. Our investigation is ongoing to bring the perpetrators to justice and provide closure to the grieving family.”

Harishchandra Rai was known as a successful and influential farmer in the region, owning extensive agricultural land in the district. His untimely demise has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about the safety and security of residents in the area.
