Former Mississippi Police Officer Pleads Guilty to Making Inmate Drink Urine

A former law enforcement officer in Mississippi has admitted to a disturbing act of abuse of power, pleading guilty to a federal misdemeanor charge after coercing a man in custody to consume his own urine. This shocking incident took place in December while Michael Christian Green, a 26-year-old patrolman with the Pearl Police Department, was on duty.

Court documents revealed that Green instructed an individual, identified as “B.E.,” to lick urine off the floor of his holding cell after the man had relieved himself. The victim had been apprehended following a disturbance at a local Sam’s Club and was awaiting processing at the Pearl Police Department.

According to prosecutors, B.E. had requested to use the restroom before urinating in his cell. Upon discovering the mess, Green reportedly threatened the detainee, brandishing his phone and ordering him to clean up the urine with his tongue. The officer’s intimidating behaviour was captured on video as he commanded B.E. to comply.

Despite B.E.’s visible discomfort and resistance, Green insisted that he ingest the urine, warning him not to spit it out. The distressing footage showed the detainee being forced to obey the officer’s degrading command, causing him to gag repeatedly throughout the humiliating ordeal.

Legal Consequences and Accountability

Michael Christian Green appeared in court on Thursday to enter a guilty plea for deprivation of civil rights under the color of law. This charge carries a maximum penalty of 12 months in prison, with his sentencing scheduled for June 12.

It is essential to hold individuals in positions of authority accountable for their actions, especially when they abuse their power to inflict harm and humiliation on vulnerable individuals. The justice system must ensure that those entrusted with upholding the law are themselves subject to scrutiny and consequences for misconduct.

The case of Michael Christian Green serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining ethical standards and respecting the rights and dignity of all individuals, regardless of their circumstances. The outcome of this legal proceedings will hopefully provide some measure of justice for the victim and send a clear message that such abuses of power will not be tolerated.
