Woman Knocked Unconscious in Los Angeles Street Takeover Incident

A shocking incident occurred at the corner of Crenshaw Boulevard and West 63rd Street in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. During a rowdy ‘street takeover’ event, a woman was clipped by a car and knocked unconscious, leaving bystanders in a panic.

In a video posted to social media, a blonde woman can be seen standing in the path of a black sedan as it performs donuts. The car swings around, clipping the woman and sending her flying through the air. She hits the pavement and lays motionless, prompting concerned onlookers to rush to her aid.

It remains unclear whether the woman sustained serious injuries in the incident. DailyMail.com has reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department for further information.

Street Takeovers in Los Angeles

Street takeovers, also known as sideshows, are informal gatherings where drivers perform car stunts in public intersections. These events often attract large crowds and are known for their reckless and dangerous nature.

Over the weekend, the intersection of Crenshaw Boulevard and West 63rd Street saw outbreaks of lawless activity, with an estimated 50 cars involved in the street takeover. The chaos included a vehicle being set on fire, adding to the mayhem of the event.

Previous Tragedies at Street Takeovers

Tragically, this is not the first time a street takeover in Los Angeles has resulted in serious consequences. In December 2022, a similar event just down the street turned deadly when a woman was pinned between a light pole and an out-of-control vehicle.

Elyzza Guajaca, a 24-year-old nursing student, was fatally injured in the incident. Three cars were speeding and performing donuts when one of the drivers lost control, leading to the tragic accident.

Efforts to Combat Street Takeovers

In response to the escalating danger posed by street takeovers, the Los Angeles City Council recently approved a pilot program to address the issue. Raised center lines will be installed at 20 intersections to deter motorists from engaging in dangerous stunts.

Speaking to KTLA, LAPD Detective Ryan Moreno expressed concern over the culture surrounding street takeovers. He highlighted the lack of accountability and the violent nature of these events, emphasizing the need for intervention to prevent further tragedies.

The pilot program is set to cost $80,000 and aims to improve safety and reduce the risks associated with street takeovers in Los Angeles.
