The Tragic Discovery of Cairo Jordan’s Body in Southern Indiana

Almost two years after the distressing discovery of a 5-year-old boy’s body inside a suitcase in rural Washington County, Southern Indiana, there has been a significant breakthrough in the case. Indiana State Police announced on Friday that the boy’s mother, Dejuane Ludie Anderson, has been apprehended and taken into custody for her alleged involvement in his death.

Sgt. Carey Huls of the Indiana State Police revealed during a press conference that Anderson was arrested without incident by the U.S. Marshals Service in California. She is currently being held in a Los Angeles Police Department facility and will soon be extradited back to Indiana to face charges related to the tragic incident.

The boy, who was later identified as Cairo Ammar Jordan, was found on April 16, 2022, in a secluded area of Washington County, Indiana, approximately 25 miles northwest of Louisville. His lifeless body was discovered inside a suitcase adorned with the words “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada,” adding a chilling element to the already harrowing discovery.

The Heartbreaking Cause of Cairo Jordan’s Untimely Passing

According to Huls, Cairo Jordan’s cause of death was determined to be an electrolyte imbalance, likely triggered by gastroenteritis. This condition, which is characterised by vomiting and diarrhoea, led to severe dehydration in the young child, ultimately resulting in his tragic demise.

The Involvement of Dawn Coleman in Cairo Jordan’s Case

Upon Cairo Jordan’s identification, authorities revealed that two women, Dejuane Anderson and her associate Dawn Elaine Coleman from Shreveport, Louisiana, were suspected of being responsible for the heinous act of his death and abandonment in the woods.

Coleman was apprehended in late 2022, while Anderson remained elusive until her recent arrest. In a recent development, Coleman pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to commit murder in connection to Cairo Jordan’s death. She was subsequently sentenced to 30 years in prison, with 25 years to be served behind bars and the remaining five years on probation as part of her plea agreement.

Dejuane Anderson’s Troubling Past

Prior to Cairo Jordan’s tragic demise, Anderson had a run-in with the law in Louisville, where she was arrested less than a month before her son’s death. She faced charges of second-degree robbery for allegedly attempting to steal merchandise from a local store and assaulting a security guard during the incident.

Despite being released on her own recognizance in mid-April, Anderson’s son’s lifeless body was discovered merely five days later. Investigators later revealed that in the aftermath of the tragedy, Anderson had travelled to various cities across the United States, including San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Houston.

Disturbing social media posts from both Anderson and Coleman hinted at a troubling relationship with the young child, with references to him as a “demon” and discussions about living with a “demonic child.” These posts, coupled with fingerprint evidence linking the women to the suitcase containing Cairo Jordan’s remains, painted a grim picture of the events leading up to the boy’s untimely passing.
