Tragic Accident at Cowing Backdam

The victim of the accident has been identified as 60-year-old Bertram Willie, a well-known dredge owner from Wisroc Housing Scheme in Linden, Region Ten. Willie was a hardworking and respected member of the community, known for his dedication to his work and his commitment to safety.
According to reports from the Ministry of Labour, the tragic accident took place on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at approximately 12:45 pm. Willie was operating his dredge at the Cowing Backdam worksite when a sudden land collapse occurred, causing a portion of the land to cave in and fall into the river.
The impact of the collapse knocked Willie into the water, where he was trapped underwater by a tree stump. Despite the efforts of nearby miners who raised the alarm and rushed to his aid, Willie was found motionless and could not be revived.
