Imagine being pulled over for a routine traffic stop, only for the authorities to uncover a shocking discovery in your vehicle. This was the case for two men in eastern South Carolina when deputies found a reported stolen Lexis loaded with thousands of stolen gift cards from Walmart.

The 2018 Lexis was stopped on South Fraser Street in Georgetown, a town located about 125 miles southeast of Columbia. It was here that deputies made the startling find that would lead to a deeper investigation.

Upon searching the vehicle, law enforcement officers recovered a total of 6,900 gift cards from various brands, including Apple, Google Play, Steam, Xbox, and Razer Gold. The combined redemption value of these cards amounted to $13,800, a staggering sum.
Suspects and Charges
One of the suspects, a 32-year-old man from Monterey Park, California, was identified by officials. The other, a 35-year-old man without a listed home address, was also apprehended. Both individuals were charged with receiving stolen goods and are currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center.
Further Investigations
The ownership of the gift cards was traced back to Walmart Corp, indicating a widespread theft operation. Due to the multiple locations involved, the suspects are also wanted for questioning in Florida regarding the stolen cards.
