La Center Man Faces Multiple Charges in Connection with Drive-By Shootings

A La Center man, Keith Ryan Brown, 41, is currently facing four criminal charges, including two counts of drive-by shooting, for his alleged involvement in two separate shootings that took place last month in Kalama and Woodland. Brown was arrested on March 3 and booked into the Cowlitz County Jail, with bail set at $200,000. A public defender has been appointed to represent him.

In addition to the drive-by shooting charges, Brown is also facing charges of attempting to elude police and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. He is subject to a no-contact order with the Woodland victim and was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday morning.

Details of the Incidents

On Feb. 28, Cowlitz County Superior Court Judge Patricia Fassett issued an arrest warrant for Brown following reports from two police departments regarding the events of Feb. 3. According to the Kelso Police Department, witnesses reported hearing gunfire and seeing a shirtless man in jeans holding a black handgun in the 600 block of North Fourth Avenue. The witnesses saw the man enter a dark-colored sedan and estimated that around 10 shots were fired.

Meanwhile, the Woodland Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to the 110 block of Meadow Park Court, where they found four bullet holes, with two bullets piercing through multiple rooms of the residence. Security camera footage captured a dark-colored sedan passing by the victim’s residence around the time of the shooting.

Police Investigation and Arrest

Kelso police alerted Woodland authorities about the shooting at North Fourth Avenue and identified Brown as the suspect. A Woodland officer found shell casings and located the Malibu believed to be involved in the incidents. Another witness positively identified Brown as the person who abandoned the vehicle.
