Journalists and Home Guard Arrested for Involvement in Man’s Death

The Mokila police in Cyberabad have made a significant arrest in connection to a tragic incident that occurred earlier this month. Two journalists and a Home Guard from Hyderabad have been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the death of a man who was found deceased after the murder of his three sons at a construction site.

The victim, identified as 32-year-old Ravi Kumar, had been living with his three sons while his estranged wife, Sri Latha, was staying with her mother. The situation took a dark turn when Ravi became entangled in a pyramid scheme known as the ‘GSN Money Circulation scheme’, orchestrated by one Thirupathi Rao. Local residents were also roped into the scheme by Ravi, but when the promised returns failed to materialise, tensions began to rise.

As the pressure mounted for Ravi to repay the investments made by the locals, the situation took a sinister turn. Allegedly, the journalists involved in the case threatened to publish damaging news stories about Ravi unless he paid them a sum of ₹10 lakh. Despite making a partial payment of ₹2.5 lakh, Ravi found himself in a precarious position with the journalists and a Home Guard, Aluri Raju, who had allegedly confiscated important documents related to a function hall Ravi was constructing.

The individuals arrested in connection to this case include 29-year-old Siripuram Srinivas Reddy, a reporter with Vartha newspaper, 32-year-old Sanike Praveen Kumar, a reporter with Sakshi newspaper, and 48-year-old Aluri Raju, also known as Nagaraj, a Home Guard from Shankarpally village. Additionally, three other journalists, Mangali Srinivas from ABN, Kurma Srinivas from Eenadu, and Vadde Mahesh from Namaste Telangana, have also been implicated in the extortion scheme.

Tragically, overwhelmed by the mounting pressure and threats from the journalists and locals, Ravi took the extreme step of ending the lives of his three sons, 6-year-old Uday Kiran, 11-year-old Mohit Kumar, and 13-year-old Sai Kiran, before taking his own life. The heartbreaking incident took place in a shed near their residence in Mokila during the early hours of March 4.

Following a thorough investigation and gathering of evidence from witnesses, the police took swift action and arrested the journalists and the Home Guard on Wednesday. The case has sent shockwaves through the community and raised concerns about the ethical conduct of journalists and the impact of their actions on vulnerable individuals.
