Tragic Incident in Chicago Leaves 11-Year-Old Boy Dead and Pregnant Mother Fighting for Her Life

CHICAGO (WBBM) – An 11-year-old boy tragically lost his life while his pregnant mother fights for survival after a horrifying attack in their own home by a suspect who had been released from jail just the day before.

Police were called to an apparent domestic incident in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood at around 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival, they discovered the 11-year-old boy with a chest injury and his 33-year-old mother with multiple stab wounds.

Both victims were swiftly transported to the hospital, where the young boy sadly succumbed to his injuries. The mother remains in critical condition with a severe neck laceration. Additionally, the mother is eight months pregnant, adding to the gravity of the situation.

identified as Jaydone Perkins by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, the young boy was described by a neighbour as a “great” kid, with the family being known as “calm and loving.”

Expressing their shock and grief, the neighbour shared, “She was a lovable woman, and her son was very well-mannered and spoke to me all the time. I’m sorry for this tragic loss.”

The prime suspect, who is now in police custody, has a troubling history of domestic battery and had been released from jail just the day before the devastating attack. Authorities are yet to disclose the nature of the relationship between the victims and the suspect, although the mother’s fiancé, who is also the father of her unborn child, has stated that he is acquainted with the suspect.
