A video capturing the incident circulated on social media, showing a mob damaging the vehicle involved and assaulting the driver, who was later rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.

Allegations of Intoxication

Local witnesses at the scene alleged that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (east), Apoorva Gupta, provided details on the victims, stating, “A total of seven individuals with injuries were admitted to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, including five women and two men. Tragically, a young woman identified as Sita Devi (22), a resident of Ghaziabad, succumbed to her injuries.”

Confirming the arrest of the driver, the DCP mentioned, “The accused is now in police custody, and legal proceedings are in motion.” As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to determine the exact cause of the tragic incident that has left the community in shock and mourning.

In another distressing development, a landslide claimed the life of a labourer during construction work in the picturesque town of Ooty in Tamil Nadu. Reports from the police indicate that the landslide occurred at a construction site near the arboriculture park in the Nilgiris district, owned by an individual named Chandran.
