Details of the Investigation

The shocking discovery was made earlier this month at the Centinela Cemetery in Mexicali. Hernandez’s body was found wrapped in a blanket and had suffered at least one shotgun wound, according to authorities.

Hernandez was reported missing on February 26 after she disappeared from a home in South Renton. Friends became concerned when she failed to return home from running errands and did not open her hair salon in the Renton Highlands. Despite attempts to contact her, Hernandez did not respond to phone calls.

Search Efforts and Suspect Arrest

Following her disappearance, Renton police detectives launched an extensive search operation, serving multiple search warrants and pursuing numerous leads. It was revealed that Hernandez was taken against her will, indicating a possible abduction.

On March 8, a news article in Mexicali reported the discovery of an unidentified body in a local cemetery on the Tijuana Highway. This led to Mexican authorities arresting a suspect, a 61-year-old Renton resident, on unrelated charges. The suspect is currently in custody in Mexico, where Hernandez’s vehicle was also recovered.

Collaborative Investigation

Renton police detectives are working closely with Mexicali police and U.S. Federal partners to determine the circumstances surrounding Hernandez’s death. Once the time and manner of death are confirmed, authorities will be able to establish where the homicide took place. If it is determined to have occurred in the U.S., extradition proceedings may be initiated against the suspect.

Hernandez’s body was found on Saturday, March 2, with distinctive tattoos on her right leg. The Baja California Attorney General’s Office reported that evidence pointed to the suspect’s involvement, as the vehicle matched the one used to transport the body to the cemetery.

This tragic incident has left the community in shock, and our thoughts are with Reyna’s family and friends during this difficult time. The investigation continues as authorities seek justice for the victim.
