Man Charged in Connection to Death of Lawrence Dion in Edmonton

Edmonton authorities have announced that a 37-year-old man has been charged in connection to the tragic death of Lawrence Dion.

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) received a call around 12:30 a.m. on March 11 regarding an assault at a residence near 95 Street and 105 Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 72-year-old man, later identified as Dion, in critical condition. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries two days later. It was later revealed that a woman had also been assaulted in the same residence on the same morning.

The suspect, Shawn Lawrence Dion, aged 37, was apprehended on the day of the incident and initially charged with aggravated assault and assault. However, the aggravated assault charge has since been upgraded to manslaughter.

An autopsy for Lawrence Dion has been scheduled for Friday to further investigate the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.
