Tragic Incident in Chicago Leaves 11-Year-Old Boy Dead and Pregnant Mother Fighting for Life

CHICAGO (WBBM) – An 11-year-old boy tragically lost his life and his pregnant mother is currently battling for survival after a horrific attack in their home by a suspect who had been released from jail just the day before.

Authorities were alerted to a distressing domestic situation in Chicago’s Edgewater neighbourhood at approximately 8 a.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival, officers discovered the young boy with a chest injury and his 33-year-old mother with multiple stab wounds.

Both victims were swiftly transported to the hospital, but sadly, the boy succumbed to his injuries. The mother remains in critical condition with a serious neck laceration.

A police source has revealed that the victims are a mother and son, with the mother eight months pregnant at the time of the incident.

Expressing shock and sadness, the neighbour shared, “She was a lovable woman, and her son was very well-mannered and spoke to me all the time. I’m sorry for this tragic loss.”

The prime suspect, who is currently in police custody, has a history of domestic battery and had been released from jail just the day prior to the attack.

Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the relationship between the victims and the suspect, though the mother’s fiancé and father of her unborn child has confirmed familiarity with the suspect.

As of Wednesday night, charges against the suspect were pending as investigations continue into this heart-wrenching incident.
