Three Suspects Apprehended After Two Police Chases in Madison County

MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) – Law enforcement officers in Madison County successfully apprehended three suspects following two separate police chases over the weekend.

First Police Chase

On the evening of Saturday, March 9, a Madison police officer initiated a traffic stop on a silver 2006 Chevrolet Silverado at approximately 6:00 p.m. The vehicle, which had been reported stolen in Jackson, attempted to evade the officers.

During the pursuit, the suspects’ vehicle took the Sowell Road exit and turned north onto Old Jackson Road. In a reckless move, the vehicle entered a ditch area, executed a U-turn, and nearly collided with an officer who was exiting his vehicle.

The chase came to a dramatic end when the stolen vehicle crashed on Highway 51, just south of Nissan Parkway. The two suspects fled from the scene, armed with rifles, but were quickly apprehended by law enforcement officers.

Arrest and Charges

Following a brief chase, 21-year-old JW Clayton III, a resident of Jackson, was taken into custody. One of the rifles was recovered after Clayton’s arrest. He now faces charges of receiving stolen property (felony), felony fleeing, conspiracy to commit a crime (felony), and possession of marijuana (misdemeanour).

Second Police Chase

Later that same evening, at around 7:00 p.m., a passerby reported witnessing a man entering a silver Honda Accord on Highway 51, south of the previous incident. The passerby promptly informed the authorities.

Gluckstadt police located the Accord and attempted to stop the vehicle, prompting a second pursuit. The chase led officers into Jackson, where they temporarily lost sight of the fleeing suspects. Through diligent investigation, officers identified the occupants of the vehicle as 20-year-old Anthony Demetric Thomas and 20-year-old Tyler Devon Myles, both residents of Jackson.

Subsequent Arrests

On Tuesday, March 12, Thomas turned himself in to the Madison Police Department. He was booked on charges of felony fleeing, conspiracy to commit a crime (felony), and accessory after the fact (felony).

Later that day, multiple law enforcement agencies apprehended Myles at a residence in Jackson. The silver Honda Accord was recovered at the scene, and Myles was booked on charges of receiving stolen property, felony fleeing, conspiracy to commit a crime (felony), and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

These successful arrests mark a significant victory for law enforcement in Madison County, demonstrating the dedication and skill of the officers involved in bringing these suspects to justice.
