St. Louis Man Facing Multiple Charges for Stealing Ex-Girlfriend’s Belongings

A St. Louis man, identified as Ralph E. Flakes, 64, is currently facing a slew of charges after allegedly stealing his ex-girlfriend’s cellphone, car, and dog in the Hyde Park neighborhood last month.

Incident Details

The incident took place in the 3600 block of North 19th Street, where Flakes reportedly went to his ex-girlfriend’s home and stole her phone, her Toyota Camry, and her dog. Additionally, he slashed the tires on her Honda CR-V, causing significant damage to her property.

Police Involvement

On March 12, a license plate reader alerted the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department that the stolen vehicle was located at 14th and Spruce streets. Police conducted a traffic stop and apprehended Flakes for questioning.

During the interrogation, Flakes confessed to taking the victim’s car, phone, and damaging her tires. He claimed ownership of the dog but admitted to stealing it as well. A search of the stolen Camry revealed a loaded .22 caliber revolver under the driver’s seat.

Drug Possession

Authorities also discovered that Flakes was in possession of more than 20 milligrams of fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine base at the time of his arrest. These substances led to additional charges being filed against him.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office has charged Flakes with a range of offenses, including stealing a motor vehicle, second-degree property damage, stealing an animal, unlawful possession of a firearm, and drug trafficking.
