Norwalk Police Officer Accused of Road Rage Incident in Trumbull

A Norwalk police officer has been accused of throwing objects at a car and attempting to run the driver off the highway during a road rage incident in Trumbull on Saturday, according to the Connecticut State Police. This incident marks the third arrest of a Norwalk Police Department member in less than a month.

Details of the Incident

The incident took place on Route 15 North between Exits 44 and 49 when the complainant’s vehicle was allegedly struck by an object thrown by the driver of a tan GMC Yukon. The driver then proceeded to follow the complainant in an attempt to force her off the road, as reported by the state police.

State troopers from Troop G responded to the scene near Exit 6 in Trumbull after receiving reports of the road rage incident. They were able to locate the vehicle and identified the driver as 54-year-old David Vetare. Vetare admitted his involvement in the incident during the investigation, according to state police.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

David Vetare has been charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle with the intention to harass or intimidate, and second-degree breach of peace. He was issued a misdemeanor summons with a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on March 20.

This incident follows the arrests of two other Norwalk police officers in recent weeks. Officer Hector Delgado was arrested on stalking and harassment charges related to a family violence incident, while Sgt. Shannon Sherry faced charges in connection with a fatal rollover crash.
