Tragic Accident Claims Life of Schaumburg Woman in Lake Barrington
A devastating accident took place on Tuesday afternoon in Lake Barrington, where a three-vehicle collision resulted in the loss of a beloved member of the community. Karen Flintz, a 53-year-old resident of Schaumburg, tragically lost her life in the incident, which occurred at the intersection of Route 59 and Miller Road.

Details of the Accident
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 4:15 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious traffic crash. Upon arrival, deputies discovered three vehicles with extensive damage, indicating the severity of the collision.
According to initial investigations, Karen Flintz was driving her Hyundai sedan northbound on Route 59 when, for reasons yet to be determined, she veered into the southbound lanes of traffic. This sudden movement led to a chain reaction of events that resulted in a catastrophic collision.
Flintz’s vehicle first collided with the rear of a semi-trailer being driven by a 62-year-old man from Hawthorn Woods. The impact then caused her vehicle to strike a Lincoln SUV that was travelling southbound, driven by a 46-year-old man from Cary.
Fatal Outcome and Minor Injuries
Tragically, Karen Flintz succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The Lake County Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy, revealing that she had suffered blunt force injuries as a result of the crash.
