Tragic Death in Berkeley County Collision

The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal head-on collision that occurred on Sunday evening. The deceased has been named as Guclu Yertut, a 54-year-old resident of Georgetown.

The collision took place on U.S. 17 Alternate near Diamondback Lane, approximately one mile south of Jamestown. Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway from the South Carolina Highway Patrol provided details of the incident.

Yertut, who was behind the wheel of a Kia sedan, was heading north on U.S. 17 Alternate when they veered across the centre line and collided head-on with the driver of a Mitsubishi SUV, as reported by Ridgeway.

Authorities from the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office are currently conducting investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
