The Tragic Death of a 27-Year-Old BJP Functionary in Tiruvannamalai – Tirupattur Border

On the border between Tiruvannamalai and Tirupattur, nestled along the picturesque Jawadhu Hills, a 27-year-old BJP functionary, G. Elumalai, met a tragic end. Elumalai, a resident of Adivaram village in Chengam taluk of Tiruvannamalai district, ventured into a reserve forest with eight others from his village on March 8. Little did they know that this forbidden trek would lead to such a devastating outcome.

The Mysterious Disappearance and Discovery

After setting out for their trek, Elumalai spoke to his family members the following day, giving them a sense of relief. However, as days passed without any communication, worry started to creep in. His companions did not return either, adding to the concern. Eventually, Elumalai’s father, S. Govindaraj, lodged a complaint with the Chengam police, sparking a search operation led by forest officials from the Singarapettai range in Jawadhu Hills.

After days of exhaustive searching with the help of sniffer dogs, a grim discovery was made deep inside the reserve forest. The half-burnt body of Elumalai was found, bearing bullet injuries that added a sinister twist to the already mysterious circumstances surrounding his death.

The Investigation and Search for Answers

With the post-mortem conducted at the Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvannamalai, authorities are now faced with the daunting task of unraveling the events leading up to Elumalai’s demise. As special police and forest teams join forces to trace the missing eight individuals who accompanied Elumalai on his ill-fated trek, theories ranging from accidental firing during a poaching expedition to deliberate foul play are being explored.
