Kennewick Teen Ethan A. Vargas identified as Pedestrian Killed in Interstate 182 Accident

A tragic accident occurred early Tuesday morning on Interstate 182 near Road 100 in Pasco, resulting in the death of a Kennewick teenager. The victim has been identified as Ethan A. Vargas, 16 years old.

Washington State Patrol responded to the incident, which led to the closure of westbound lanes and caused significant traffic congestion during the early hours of the morning. The freeway was eventually reopened to motorists.

According to reports from the state patrol, the fatal collision involved a westbound Cadillac XT5 driven by George Dvorak, 58, of Pasco. Dvorak reported to authorities that the victim, Vargas, was attempting to cross the divided highway in front of his vehicle when the accident occurred. Dvorak promptly contacted emergency services, notifying them of the tragic incident just before 4 a.m.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are currently under investigation by the authorities to determine the cause of the collision and establish any contributing factors.
