Fulton Township Man Accused of Homicide
FULTON TOWNSHIP, Wis. (WMTV/Gray News) – A 20-year-old Wisconsin man is facing charges of homicide after the tragic discovery of an 8-year-old family member found dead in a Rock County home, according to Rock County Sheriff Curtis Fell.
Sheriff Fell stated that officers responded to a home on the 5500 block of W. Miles Road in Fulton following a report of a missing child around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Despite an extensive search of the residence, the child was not located, as reported by WMTV.
Law enforcement, including deputies, officers, a K-9 team, and a drone team, conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area in an effort to locate the missing child. During the search, a 20-year-old family member of the child was detained by authorities under circumstances that have not been disclosed at this time.
Following the detainment, a search warrant was obtained for the residence, leading to the discovery of the child’s body. An autopsy later confirmed that the cause of death was homicide.

The 20-year-old suspect, identified as Dayveon Lathrop, was arrested by detectives on Monday at 11 a.m. The suspect is facing charges of first-degree intentional homicide, hiding a corpse, child neglect causing death, possession of drug paraphernalia, and bail jumping. Sheriff Fell mentioned that the suspect is currently undergoing evaluation.
According to Sheriff Fell, no one else was present in the home at the time of the alleged homicide, and there were no previous reports to law enforcement regarding the victim and the suspect. Fell expressed his condolences to the family of the victim and the community, acknowledging the tragic nature of the incident.
While an official date for the suspect’s initial appearance has not been set, the Rock County District Attorney’s Office anticipates it will take place on Wednesday.
