PESHAWAR:

The Counter-Terrorism Department in Peshawar made several arrests on Monday following a bomb blast on Nasir Bagh Road. The arrests were made based on information provided by a terrorist who was captured in injured condition after the explosion.

The investigation into the blast is ongoing, with an interrogation team gathering crucial information from the injured terrorist. Additionally, CCTV footage of the incident has emerged, showing three individuals riding a motorcycle at the time of the explosion.

The video footage indicates that two of the terrorists died in the blast, while one sustained injuries. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur has condemned the attack and has requested a detailed report from the provincial police chief.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Kashif Aftab Abbasi revealed that the blast involved approximately four to five kilograms of explosives. He stated that it is still too early to determine the intended target of the attack.

Further investigation revealed that the three terrorists were travelling on a motorcycle. The bomb disposal unit report confirmed that the explosion was not a suicide attack but rather occurred during the transportation of explosives.

According to the SSP, no civilians were killed in the blast. Instead, the terrorists themselves became victims of their own explosives before reaching their intended target.

The third terrorist, identified as Usman and aged between 28 and 30 years, sustained serious injuries in the blast. The motorcycle used in the attack was completely destroyed, prompting an expanded investigation to retrieve its engine and chassis numbers.

CTD officials identified the two deceased terrorists as Sulaiman and Amir. One of them was identified as a potential suicide bomber from Dir district, currently residing in Peshawar. Usman, once he regains consciousness, will be interrogated about the attack.
