The San Pablo Car Theft Incident: A Terrifying Ordeal

The San Pablo Police Department reported that the child was found unharmed inside the vehicle in Richmond, bringing a sense of relief to all involved.

The Scene of the Crime

The theft took place on the 1300 block of California Avenue at approximately 1:25 p.m., as captured on surveillance video. A brazen woman was seen stealing the car with the child still seated inside, leaving bystanders in disbelief at the audacity of the act.

A Frantic Search and Recovery

Following the alarming incident, law enforcement officers swiftly mobilized to track down the stolen vehicle and ensure the safe return of the child. The vehicle was eventually located near Barrett Avenue and Hayes Street by Richmond police, where the victim was joyously reunited with her mother.

A Pursuit and Arrest

The suspect responsible for the theft was apprehended on the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Avenue in Oakland, accompanied by two other women in a white 2016 Hyundai Tucson. Despite attempts to evade capture, the vehicle was intercepted and the occupants fled on foot in the vicinity of East 1st Street in Oakland. It was later discovered that the car had been reported stolen from Hayward.

Justice Served

Although two of the women managed to escape, one was successfully taken into custody by law enforcement officials. The arrested individual was identified as Joy Taueetia, a 35-year-old resident of Oakland, and was promptly charged with vehicle theft and kidnapping. Police confirmed that Taueetia was the same individual caught on camera committing the initial theft.
