The Israeli Defense Forces Confirm Death of Dual American-Israeli Citizen Itay Chen

In a tragic turn of events, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have officially confirmed the death of Itay Chen, a young man who held dual American and Israeli citizenship. It is believed that Chen was taken hostage during the recent spate of attacks launched by Hamas on Israel in October. The news of his demise has left his family and loved ones devastated.

According to reports from various sources, Chen, who served in the IDF, was killed while bravely defending civilians on the border of Gaza. His parents, Ruby and Hagit Chen, have been informed of his passing by the Israeli military. The couple expressed their profound grief, stating that they would have done anything to bring their beloved son home alive.

Describing Chen as the “life of the party” and a crucial member of their family, his father, Ruby Chen, reminisced about their shared moments and travels. Despite growing up in Israel, Chen frequently visited his father’s hometown in New York, forging strong bonds with his relatives and friends.

The tragic news has also garnered attention from the highest echelons of power, with President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden extending their condolences to Chen’s family. The Bidens expressed solidarity with the grieving family, reaffirming their commitment to secure the release of all hostages still held captive since the October attacks.

Military officials have disclosed that Chen’s remains were taken into Gaza following his death. Regrettably, a significant number of individuals, including Americans, are believed to be held as hostages by Hamas. The grim reality is that 32 out of the 130 hostages from the October incident are feared to be deceased.

Among the Americans still in captivity are Sagui Dekel-Chen, Keith Siegel, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Omer Neutra, and Edan Alexander. Tragically, the bodies of at least two other American citizens are also reportedly held in Gaza, adding to the anguish and uncertainty faced by their families.
