Gunmen Shoot and Kill Two in Ambalangoda
Two people tragically lost their lives on Monday night in a shocking incident that took place near a shop on Wela Road in Galagoda, Ambalangoda. The incident occurred at approximately 8.35 pm when two unidentified gunmen opened fire on a group of individuals, resulting in the death of two individuals and leaving three others injured.

Details of the Incident
According to reports from the Police Media Division, the assailants arrived at the scene on a motorcycle armed with a T-56 firearm. After carrying out the shooting, they quickly fled the scene. Investigations have revealed that the intended target of the shooting was a worker named ‘Podi’ at the shop, while the owner of the shop had no prior criminal record. It is suspected that the owner was mistakenly targeted by the assailants.
The two individuals who lost their lives in the shooting have been identified as Halamba Udesh Maduranga, also known as ‘Podi Mendis’, and 21-year-old Dadallage Sithum Anjana, known as ‘Sudu’. Three other individuals, Chatura Madushanka, Pattini Wasam Akila, and Sangamage Champika Thushara, sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Balapitiya Hospital.
Suspected Connection to Another Shooting
Police suspect that the same individual responsible for the shooting in Ambalangoda may also be linked to a shooting incident in the Pitigala area that occurred just 30 minutes prior. It is believed that both shootings were carried out by a group of organized criminals on paid contracts.

The Ambalangoda Police are conducting thorough investigations into the incident to identify and apprehend those responsible for the tragic loss of life and injuries. The community is urged to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
