Police Investigating Fatal Accident in Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara

Authorities are currently investigating a tragic accident that took place at approximately 9:35 pm on Sunday in Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara, near the Guyana Shore Base Inc. The victim of the accident has been identified as 26-year-old motorcyclist, Domall Trim, residing in Lot 16 Bel Air Village, Georgetown.

Details of the Accident

According to reports from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the incident involved a collision between Trim’s motorcycle and a motor lorry with registration number GAE 2805, owned by Guyana Shore Base Inc. The lorry was being driven by 24-year-old Nickell Higgins from Sparendaam Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara.

Initial investigations indicate that the lorry driver was travelling east on Rome Access Road with the intention of continuing east across Mc Doom public road. As the lorry approached the junction at Mc Doom public road, a traffic rank directed all vehicles travelling south and north on both carriageways to come to a stop, allowing the lorry driver to proceed east.

At the same time, a group of motorcyclists were heading south on the eastern drive lane of the eastern carriageway. The motorcyclists moved to the eastern side of the road, bypassing the stationary vehicles, and began accelerating southward at a high speed, overtaking the line of traffic.

Tragic Collision

Unfortunately, Trim’s motorcycle collided with the rear of the motor lorry, causing him to fall onto the road and slide into the rear right-side wheel of the lorry. The impact resulted in significant injuries to Trim’s body. He was quickly attended to and transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where medical staff examined him for multiple injuries.

Fatal Outcome

Despite receiving treatment, Trim tragically succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital. His body has since been moved to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is ongoing, with authorities working to gather more information and piece together the events leading up to the fatal collision.
