Tragic Incident at LUVAS: Professor Allegedly Commits Suicide and Kills Daughter

In a heartbreaking turn of events, a professor at the Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS) in Hisar, Haryana, has reportedly taken his own life and that of his eight-year-old daughter. The incident, which has shocked the community, took place on March 11.

The 35-year-old professor, identified as Sandeep Goyal, had been struggling with clinical depression before the tragic event unfolded. According to media reports, he allegedly slit his daughter’s throat with a surgical blade before ending his own life.

The devastating incident occurred on a Sunday afternoon when Goyal left his residence on his scooter, accompanied by his daughter Sanaya. Concerned when they did not return, Goyal’s wife went to the university in search of them. Upon reaching the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology office, where Goyal’s scooter was parked, she found the door locked from inside. With the help of a security guard, they entered the office only to discover a horrifying scene.

The bodies of the professor and his daughter were found in a pool of blood, prompting the local authorities, including the Hisar Superintendent of Police and other officials, to launch an investigation into the tragic incident.

Goyal, a resident of Narwana, Haryana, had been serving as an Assistant Professor at LUVAS since 2016. He resided with his family in the university-provided government quarters, while his father worked as an accountant in Narwana.

Police Investigation and Medical History

Assistant Superintendent of Police Rajesh Mohan revealed that Goyal had been undergoing treatment for depression and was known to have suicidal tendencies. Colleagues informed the police that Goyal was undergoing psychotherapy to cope with his mental health issues.

The authorities are currently examining the evidence and questioning individuals connected to the case, including Goyal’s family members. The police have also called in a mobile forensic unit to collect scientific evidence, as the investigation continues to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
