On Sunday, March 10, 2024, a tragic incident unfolded in Belize City as a minor was shot in a senseless act of violence. The victim has been identified as Rajan Thomas, a 13-year-old Belizean student and resident of Police Street.

Police reports indicate that the shooting took place on Linda Vista Street just after 9:00 pm. Authorities responded to a call and found Rajan Thomas at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, suffering from gunshot wounds to the body.
According to initial investigations, Rajan and another male minor were in the vicinity of Shen Shen Mini Outlet on Linda Vista Street. When they found the shop closed, Rajan suggested they visit another location called “Sams.” As they made their way to “Sams,” a tragic turn of events unfolded.
While walking on Linda Vista Street, two dark-complexioned males on a motorcycle passed by Rajan and opened fire, causing the injuries. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.
