Police Shoot Murder Accused in Tamil Nadu; Suspect Succumbs to Injuries

In a tragic incident in Velankulli, Tirunelveli, a murder accused was shot by police and later succumbed to his injuries at Tirunelveli Medical College hospital in Tamil Nadu. The deceased, identified as K. Petchidurai, 23, was involved in the brutal killing of road worker C. Karuppasamy in an inebriated state, along with his accomplice, Chandru.

The duo not only hacked Karuppasamy to death but also attacked another road worker, A. Venkatesh, and caused damage to a car and a government bus. When police attempted to take them into custody, Petchidurai and Chandru attacked police constable Shenthil, leading to the police shooting Petchidurai in the leg. Both suspects were eventually arrested.

Petchidurai was rushed to Tirunelveli Government Medical College hospital for treatment, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he passed away on Monday. Veeravanallur police officers have registered cases of murder against both Petchidurai and Chandru for the killing of Karuppasamy, as well as other charges related to assault and vandalism.

The incident has left the community in shock, as such violence is uncommon in the region. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter to ensure justice is served for the victims and their families.
