Accident – Death – Obituary News : Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester resident is currently in police custody after attempting to evade a deputy who clocked him driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph in rural Rochester over the weekend.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin shared details of the incident, which took place around 9:15 on Saturday night. Deputies made an effort to pull over a vehicle that was speeding at 106 mph in a 55 mph zone, located about four miles east of Rochester in the 7100 block of Collegeview Rd. East/Olmsted County Rd. 9.

The driver of the vehicle refused to stop, prompting deputies to terminate their pursuit. Shortly after, law enforcement officers discovered that the suspect’s vehicle had crashed at the roundabout intersection of Collegeview Rd. East and Energy Pkwy. northeast.

The suspect fled on foot, but was eventually apprehended with the help of the Rochester Police Department. identified as 46-year-old Joseph Rabe, the individual is now facing charges related to Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), Speeding, and Fleeing in a motor vehicle.

Following his arrest, Rabe was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for evaluation. Once cleared medically, he was transferred to the Olmsted County Jail. Records from the facility indicate that he was processed shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Friday.

In order to gather further evidence, deputies obtained a warrant for a blood draw, with the sample set to be examined by the state crime lab. Parkin mentioned that the investigation will proceed based on the results of this test, with formal charges pending.
