Manhunt for 23-Year-Old Akron Man Wanted in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Authorities are on the lookout for a 23-year-old Akron man in connection with a tragic hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of 47-year-old Jimmy Fletcher nearly a month ago. The Akron Police Department has issued a news release seeking information on the whereabouts of the suspect.

Crash Investigation Leads to Ashtabula

Police have identified a white 2013 Chevy Cruze as the vehicle involved in the fatal crash and traced it to Ashtabula. The car was towed back to Akron on March 7 as part of the ongoing investigation.

Suspect Identified

David Farren has been identified as the driver of the vehicle at the time of the tragic incident. He faces charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and other related offenses as authorities work to bring him to justice.

Details of the Incident

According to police reports, Fletcher was riding his bicycle north on South Arlington Street when he was struck by a white sedan that turned onto Ray Street. The collision occurred around 4 p.m. on February 9, leaving Fletcher critically injured. He was rushed to Summa Akron City Hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries on February 12.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about David Farren’s whereabouts to contact the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau. Tips can be provided anonymously by texting TIPSCO to 274637 or through the Akron PD app.
