Valparaiso Woman Dies After Friday Afternoon Shooting
A tragic incident unfolded in Valparaiso on Friday afternoon, resulting in the death of a 29-year-old woman identified as Jessica Kouba. According to reports from the Porter County Coroner’s Office, Kouba passed away at 5:23 p.m. on March 8 at Northwest Health-Porter due to blood loss from a fatal gunshot wound. The authorities have classified her death as a homicide.

The Valparaiso Police Department is actively investigating the shooting incident that took place in the 350 block of Locust Street around 3:50 p.m. on the same day. Multiple gunshots were reported in the area, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
During the investigation, a 25-year-old man from Merrillville, identified as Anthony Lee, was found at the scene. Lee was taken into custody for questioning and subsequently transported to the Valparaiso Police Department. He has since been incarcerated at Porter County Jail on unrelated charges of possession of marijuana, which were filed against him on January 30.
