Gurugram Tragedy: Mentally Ill Son Kills Mother in Vipul Greens Apartment Complex
In a tragic incident that has shocked the residents of Gurugram, a 59-year-old woman named Ranu Shah was brutally stabbed to death by her mentally ill son, Atrish. The horrifying incident took place at their residence in the Vipul Greens apartment complex in Gurugram Sector 48, where the family lived together.
Atrish, who is 27 years old, had been undergoing treatment for his mental illness for some time. According to neighbours, he often had arguments with his parents and was known to have violent outbursts. On the night of the incident, neighbours noticed smoke coming from the flat and immediately alerted the authorities.
Firefighters and police arrived at the scene promptly, but despite their efforts to rescue her, Ranu Shah suffered severe burns and was rushed to a nearby private hospital. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries shortly after being admitted.
It is believed that the violent attack was triggered when Ranu Shah referred to her son as “mad”. This seemingly innocent comment enraged Atrish, leading him to stab his mother multiple times before setting their flat on fire. Fortunately, Ranu Shah’s husband was not home at the time of the attack.
Senior police officer Mayank Gupta has stated that Atrish will undergo a mental health evaluation before any further decisions are made in regards to the case. The tragic incident has left the local community in shock and disbelief, highlighting the importance of mental health awareness and support for those in need.
