Increased Security Presence at Arbor Place Mall Carnival Following Shooting Incident

Douglasville police responded to a call at the mall parking lot on Sunday afternoon, where they discovered a 32-year-old man, Demetrius Forts, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Forts was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment and remained under care on Monday.

Authorities arrested 41-year-old Porsona Lashelle Holland in connection to the shooting. An initial investigation revealed that Holland and Forts were in a relationship, indicating that the incident was not a random act of violence. Holland now faces charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.

The upcoming Spring Fling event at Arbor Place, scheduled for March 14 through 24, will see an increased police presence. Officers, both in uniform and plain clothes, will be strategically stationed throughout the carnival to ensure the safety of attendees.

In a statement, a police spokesperson emphasised the importance of parental supervision at such events, stating, “Carnivals are not babysitters.
