Arrest Made in Somerset County Robbery

Authorities in Somerset County have announced the arrest of Maicol Fernandez, an 18-year-old resident of Bernardsville, in connection with a robbery that took place in the town in the late evening hours of Monday, March 4, 2024, to the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

According to Prosecutor McDonald, the Bernardsville Borough Police Department received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 12:22 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, reporting an armed robbery in Bernardsville.

Upon arrival, Bernardsville police officers met with the victim, an adult male resident of Bernardsville, who reported that an unknown male had entered his home, brandished a knife, and demanded money. The victim attempted to resist the suspect at one point, resulting in minor injuries.

Subsequently, the suspect allegedly forced the victim to accompany him to a nearby bank and withdraw money from the ATM.

Following the incident, detectives from the Bernardsville Police Department, in collaboration with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit, launched an investigation into the robbery.

As a result of the investigation, Maicol Fernandez was identified as the suspect responsible for the robbery on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. Fernandez was arrested and charged with 1st-degree Robbery and 2nd-degree Burglary.

The defendant, Maicol Fernandez, is currently being held at the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing in relation to the charges.
