Accident – Death – Obituary News : Police in northeast New Jersey are currently investigating a heartbreaking incident where a dog mauled and killed a 3-month-old baby boy over the weekend. The tragic attack also left the baby’s mother, a 21-year-old woman, seriously injured.
The fatal incident occurred at the family’s home in Woodbridge, located in northern Middlesex County, just east of Staten Island. According to reports from MyCentralJersey.com, part of the USA TODAY Network, the attack took place in the early hours of the morning.

Law enforcement officers from the Woodbridge Police Department responded to the scene just after 6:15 a.m. on Saturday and found the baby unresponsive, believed to have been attacked by the family’s pit bull. Tragically, the baby was pronounced dead at the scene.
The baby’s mother sustained cuts to her face, arms, and legs during the attack and was taken to a hospital for treatment. She was released later that same day. The child’s 27-year-old father also received treatment for unspecified injuries following the incident.
In response to the attack, the dog responsible was euthanized by a veterinarian. The case is still under investigation, and as of now, no charges have been filed.
This devastating incident is one of several reported dog attacks across the country so far this year. In addition to the incident in New Jersey, similar attacks have been reported in other states, including Clifton, South Carolina; Compton, California; and Hartselle, Alabama.

Authorities have not released the names of the baby boy or his parents. The Woodbridge Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
