Man Dies in Lakewood Police Shooting

In a tragic incident in Lakewood, Colorado, a suspect died in a shooting involving the local police department on Saturday morning. The incident took place at the La Quinta Inn located at 7190 W. Hampden Ave.
Police Response to Shots Fired
The Lakewood Police Department received a call at 7:17 a.m. reporting shots fired on the fifth floor of the building. Upon arrival, officers encountered an armed suspect in the hallway. Despite orders to drop the weapon, the suspect refused and advanced towards the police officers.

Three officers opened fire on the suspect and provided immediate aid. Unfortunately, the suspect succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed during the altercation.
The deceased suspect is a 40-year-old male, but his identity has not been disclosed as the department seeks to inform his family. The Jefferson County Critical Incident Response Team is leading the investigation into the shooting. The officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave, following standard protocol.
As of Saturday evening, the department has not released any further details regarding the case.
