Two Ohio Women Arrested for Taking Dead Man to Bank and Hospital

ASHTABULA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO/Gray News) – Two Ohio women were taken into custody by Ashtabula Police after admitting to driving the body of an elderly man to a bank and later leaving it at a hospital. The deceased man was identified as 80-year-old Douglas Layman, a resident of Ashtabula.

According to Ashtabula Police Chief Robert Stell, Layman resided with the two women, Loreen Feralo and Karen Casbohm. The disturbing incident came to light when the women told authorities that they discovered Layman deceased on Monday, March 4.

The women then placed Layman’s body in a car, propped him up, and drove to the bank with the intention of withdrawing money from his account. After completing their errand at the bank, they reportedly dropped the body off at the Ashtabula County Medical Center, failing to provide any identifying information about the deceased.

It wasn’t until several hours later that one of the women contacted the hospital and provided Layman’s details. Subsequently, officers visited the home and interviewed Feralo and Cashbohm, leading to their arrest on charges of theft and gross abuse of a corpse.

Chief Stell mentioned that additional charges are currently being considered as the investigation unfolds.
