Two Ohio Women Arrested for Driving Dead Man’s Body to Bank and Hospital

ASHTABULA COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO/Gray News) – In a bizarre turn of events, two Ohio women have been arrested after confessing to driving a deceased man’s body to a bank and later abandoning it at a hospital. The man has been identified as 80-year-old Douglas Layman, a resident of Ashtabula.

According to Ashtabula Police Chief Robert Stell, Layman resided with the two women, Loreen Feralo and Karen Casbohm, in the same household. The trio’s living arrangement took a dark twist when Layman was found dead on Monday, March 4.

The women then made a shocking decision to transport Layman’s body in a car, where they positioned him upright. Their destination was the bank, where they attempted to withdraw funds from Layman’s account. Following this macabre errand, Feralo and Casbohm allegedly deposited Layman’s body at the Ashtabula County Medical Center, offering no details about the deceased man.

Several hours later, one of the women contacted the hospital to provide Layman’s identification. Subsequently, officers were dispatched to the residence to question Feralo and Cashbohm about the disturbing events that had unfolded.

Upon hearing their account, law enforcement officials charged the women with theft and gross abuse of a corpse. Chief Stell has mentioned that additional charges are currently under consideration as the investigation continues.
