In a bizarre turn of events in Ashtabula County, Ohio, two women were arrested after confessing to driving a dead man’s body to a bank and then leaving it at a hospital. The shocking incident took place in the quiet town of Ashtabula, sending shockwaves through the community.
Identification of the Deceased
The deceased man was identified as 80-year-old Douglas Layman, a resident of Ashtabula. Chief Robert Stell of the Ashtabula Police Department revealed that Layman and the two women, Loreen Feralo and Karen Casbohm, were all living together at the time of the incident.

Details of the Gruesome Act
The women claimed that they discovered Layman dead on Monday, March 4. In a shocking act, they placed his body in a car and drove to the bank to withdraw money from his account. After completing their errand, they callously left his body at the Ashtabula County Medical Center without providing any information about him.
Legal Consequences
Several hours later, one of the women contacted the hospital to provide Layman’s details. Consequently, officers from the Ashtabula Police Department visited the residence and questioned Feralo and Cashbohm. Upon hearing their chilling account, the women were charged with theft and gross abuse of a corpse. Chief Stell mentioned that additional charges are currently being considered as the investigation progresses.
