Man Arrested in Marion for Attempted Child Molestation and Possession of Child Pornography

Marion, Ind. — Marion police made an arrest on Thursday for attempted child molestation and possession of child pornography. The arrest came after officers were dispatched to 1502 N Baldwin Ave following a request for assistance from the private group Predator Poachers.

Upon arrival at the scene, which was a Hampton Inn, police applied for a search warrant for a hotel room and a vehicle that the suspect had allegedly driven to the city. Predator Poachers had informed the police that they had been in contact with the suspect on a social media site and that the suspect had rented a room at the hotel with the intention of engaging in sexual activities with a 9-year-old child.

The private group met the suspect at the hotel and confronted him before contacting the police. Subsequently, a search warrant was granted, and child pornography was discovered on the suspect’s phone.

The suspect, identified as 52-year-old Eric Grow from Hartville, Ohio, was arrested and charged with attempted child molestation and possession of child pornography, which are Level 4 and Level 5 felonies, respectively.

Marion Police Department (MPD) stated that the Hartville Police Department has been notified of Grow’s activities. The Hartville Police Department executed a search warrant at Grow’s residence to gather evidence for the ongoing investigation.

Eric Grow is currently being held in Grant County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
