Man Killed in Tragic Accident While Working on Underground Water Pipe in Renggam, Kluang

A 59-year-old man tragically lost his life after being buried alive while working on an underground water pipe in Renggam, Kluang.

Deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Nik Mohd Azmi Husin of Kluang revealed that the police received a report about the incident at KM41.5 Jalan Kluang-Teck Wah Heng at 3.32pm on Saturday (March 9).

The victim, identified as Rostam Amiruddin Hassan, was involved in welding metal pipes with two others inside a 1.8m-deep trench when tragedy struck. The soil surrounding them suddenly collapsed, burying Rostam alive.

Investigation Findings

Unfortunately, Rostam was also pinned by some of the pipes and was pronounced dead at the scene. However, his two colleagues managed to escape unharmed.

DSP Nik Mohd Azmi mentioned that investigations did not reveal any signs of sabotage, and the case has been categorised as a sudden death. The deceased’s body has been transported to Kluang Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
