Worcester Man Arrested After Armed Robbery at Northborough Sex Shop

A Worcester man was arrested after using a fake gun to hold up a Northborough sex shop before fleeing into the woods, sparking a late-night manhunt that ended in his capture. The incident took place at the Amazing Intimate Essentials & Smoke Shop on Belmont Street, where employees confronted the man, later identified as Ross Bourgeois, 34, of Worcester, over suspected shoplifting.

Armed Robbery and Manhunt

According to officials, Bourgeois allegedly brandished a fake firearm and a knife before fleeing with several undisclosed items. Northborough police responded to the scene and spotted a man matching the suspect’s description walking along Lawrence Street. When officers attempted to apprehend him, Bourgeois fled into the nearby woods, leading to a four-hour manhunt.

State police, along with officers from Westborough and Shrewsbury, assisted in establishing a perimeter in the Route 9 and Lawrence Street area. Drone units from the Northborough and Westborough police departments, as well as the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, were deployed to search for the suspect.

Arrest and Charges

After several hours of searching, Bourgeois was found hiding in a wooded area near Wal-Mart on Otis Street. Despite initial attempts to negotiate his surrender, Bourgeois refused to comply. The State Police Special Tactical Operations Team (STOP) was called in to assist with negotiations, and Bourgeois eventually surrendered without further incident.
