The Zebra Coalition Holds Vigil for Nex Benedict in Orlando

In a heartwarming show of support and remembrance, the Zebra Coalition is organizing a vigil to celebrate the life of Nex Benedict in Orlando, Florida.

The Tragic Loss of Nex Benedict

Nex Benedict, a 16-year-old nonbinary high school student, tragically passed away after a fight at Owasso High School in Oklahoma. Nex, who used they/them pronouns, was a victim of bullying and discrimination, leading to their untimely demise.

Federal Investigation Launched

Following Nex’s death, federal officials have opened an investigation into the Oklahoma school district where the incident took place. The U.S. Department of Education has taken action to address the circumstances surrounding Nex’s passing.

A Community Comes Together

The LGBTQ+ community in Orlando is rallying together to honor Nex’s memory and pay tribute to their life. The vigil will feature speeches from trans and non-binary youth, as well as artistic performances to celebrate Nex’s journey.
