Tragic Boat Incident Claims Two Lives in Kapit

SIBU (March 9): The serene waters of the Batang Baleh river in Kapit turned into a scene of tragedy as a boat capsized, claiming the lives of four individuals. Today, the search and rescue operation recovered the bodies of two victims, bringing closure to their families and loved ones.

Victims identified

The two bodies recovered have been identified as Sergeant Jonathan Lambet, a dedicated police officer, and civilian Jack Balan. The heart-wrenching discovery was made by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 team led by Chief Andy Alie.

Search Efforts

Jack’s body was found near Pulau Kerto earlier today, while Jonathan’s remains were located 5km from the site of the tragic incident, near SK Lepong Baleh. Despite the challenging conditions, the SAR team worked tirelessly to bring closure to the families of the victims.

Remaining Missing Individuals

As the day came to a close, the SAR operation was adjourned with a glimmer of hope for finding the remaining two missing individuals – police officer Amerson John Nain and civilian Iskandar Ibrahim. The community remains united in prayers for their safe return.
