Three Suspected Poachers Arrested in Assam with Firearms and Animal Body Parts
In a joint operation between the Assam Police and the forest department, three suspected poachers were apprehended in Chirang district, Assam. The authorities recovered a significant amount of animal body parts and firearms from the suspects in what is believed to be a case of illegal poaching.

Incident Details
The suspects were caught in Chirang district’s Bijni area, near the Panbari forest range, as they were allegedly en route to an illegal market to sell the poached animals. According to officials from the Panbari forest range, the individuals had killed deers and other wild creatures before being intercepted.
Suspects’ Identification
The arrested individuals have been identified as Dhansing Goyari (25), Ashok Brahma (27), and Bergo Musahari (40). All three suspects are residents of Chirang district, as confirmed by the police.
Police Operation
Chirang district Superintendent of Police (SP) Pranjit Bora revealed that they received a tip-off from the forest department regarding suspected poachers. Acting swiftly, the authorities launched an operation in the Panbari forest range area, resulting in the apprehension of the suspects.
Recovered Items
During the operation, the authorities recovered two firearms, four machetes, and various hunting materials from the arrested individuals. Alongside the weapons, body parts of recently poached animals were also seized.

Legal Action
Two cases have been registered against the suspects – one under the Wildlife Protection Act and another under the Arms Act, 1959. The arrested individuals are set to be presented before the court, as the police continue their investigation into the incident.
Continuing Investigation
SP Bora mentioned that it is suspected that other poachers may have been involved in the illegal activities. The police are actively searching for additional suspects believed to be part of the poaching ring.
