Local Court in Bareilly Sentences Eight to Death in Triple Murder Case

A local court in Bareilly, a city in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, has made a landmark decision in a triple murder case that shocked the community back in 2014. The court sentenced eight individuals, including two women, to death for their involvement in the brutal crime that took place during a dacoity in the Baradari area of the city.

The case involved the tragic deaths of a 60-year-old woman, as well as two other individuals, during a robbery gone wrong. The mastermind behind the crime, jewellery shop owner Raju Verma, was handed a life imprisonment sentence for his role in the heinous act.

Convicts and Their Roles

The eight convicts were identified as members of the Chaimar gang from Punjab. The accused included Wazid, Yaseen alias Zeeshan, Nazima, Hashima, Sameer alias Sahab alias Nafees, Zulfam, and Faheem. Notably, Zulfam and Yaseen are Haseen and Nazima’s sons, while Hashima is Yaseen’s wife. The court found that the other accused were their relatives.

Court Proceedings and Verdict

After being found guilty on March 4, Verma and Nazima, who were out on bail, were immediately taken into custody and sent to jail. The remaining accused were already behind bars. The court announced its decision on March 7, sentencing the eight individuals, including the two women, to death. Additionally, fines were imposed on all the convicts, including Verma.

The court examined a total of 10 prosecution and two defence witnesses throughout the case to ensure justice was served.

Court’s Observations and Justification for the Death Penalty

The court noted that the primary motive of the convicts was to commit robbery and dacoity through mass murder, without any justifiable reason. The brutal act not only resulted in the loss of lives but also the theft of valuable possessions. The court believed that imposing the death penalty was necessary to safeguard society from such dangerous criminals who posed a threat to innocent lives.

Details of the Tragic Incident

The incident dates back to April 2014 when Ravi Kant Mishra, an Income Tax department officer, discovered the bodies of his mother, wife, and brother in their home in Suresh Sharma Nagar, Bareilly. The victims were brutally murdered with blunt objects, indicating a violent and senseless attack.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the assailants had entered the house through the windows, using force to gain access. The police were able to track down the culprits at Umariya village in Bareilly and recover the stolen jewellery and other valuables.

Verma, the jewellery shop owner, was implicated in the crime for knowingly purchasing stolen goods from the accused. The court found him guilty under IPC Section 412 for his involvement in the illegal transaction.

Overall, the court’s decision to deliver justice in this tragic case sends a strong message to criminals who engage in violent acts for personal gain. The community can now find closure knowing that those responsible for the heinous crime have been held accountable.
