The modus operandi of the traffickers involved luring victims with promises of lucrative positions in the Russian Army, security sectors, or educational institutions. Once ensnared, victims were forced to pay exorbitant fees for visa processing and travel arrangements before being stripped of their passports and subjected to coercive measures upon arrival in Russia.
The victims were then manipulated into combat training and deployed to the front lines of the Russia-Ukraine conflict against their will. The CBI, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, has taken swift action to apprehend the culprits behind this heinous scheme.
According to a spokesperson for the CBI, the traffickers used social media platforms like YouTube to entice Indian nationals with false promises of high-paying jobs in Russia. The agency has launched a comprehensive investigation, conducting searches at multiple locations and seizing incriminating evidence, including cash amounting to over Rs 50 lakh.
