Costa Mesa Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Incident by Inland Empire Rideshare Driver

Authorities in Costa Mesa, California, have reported a tragic incident where a woman was fatally struck by a rideshare driver from the Inland Empire. The driver, identified as 43-year-old Thomas Loranze Henry of Ontario, was arrested on Wednesday after fleeing the scene of the accident.

Details of the Incident

The incident took place at the intersection of Newport Boulevard and Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa. Police were called to the scene shortly after 12:25 a.m. on Sunday, March 3. Upon arrival, they found a woman with a life-threatening head injury on Newport Boulevard. She was immediately attended to by Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue and transported to the nearest trauma hospital.

Tragically, the woman, a resident of Costa Mesa whose identity has not been disclosed pending next-of-kin notification, succumbed to her injuries and passed away on Wednesday.

Arrest of the Suspect

The Costa Mesa Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team conducted an investigation into the incident and determined that the suspect driver, who was operating as a rideshare driver in the area, had struck the victim and fled the scene. Thomas Loranze Henry was subsequently arrested on charges of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released at this time.
