The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has successfully identified a man whose skull was discovered on the Neosho River, following a meticulous investigation.

On April 29, 2017, deputies from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office were called to the 2000 block of Road 145 on the north side of Neosho Rapids, where they stumbled upon a human skull along the riverbanks.

Upon the discovery, detectives took over the case and began their investigation. The details of the case were entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System in August 2017. Subsequently, in 2018, the case was referred to the FBI for DNA analysis.

Fast forward to 2022, when forensic evidence was passed on to Othram scientists for further examination. The experts at Othram were able to create a DNA profile of the unidentified individual, leading to new breakthroughs in the case. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, armed with this new information, reached out to a potential relative of the man in question.
